Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama closed the Auckland Fijian Community 7s last night.

The one day 7s tournament which was held at Tangaroa College in Auckland was aimed at bringing together the Fijian diaspora in New Zealand with teams from all over the country competing.

New Zealand Fiji Community president Nacanieli Yalimaiwai says they are working on putting a team of Fijian players together to participate at next year’s Marist 7s.

Yalimaiwai says the Olympic 7s win has certainly inspired the youths to work harder to make a name for themselves and also earn a living out of playing rugby.

The Prime Minister thanked the organisers for using sports as a vehicle to unite the Fijian diaspora.
