Fiji wins gold in weightlifting

Weightlifter Ulina Sagone has secured first gold for Fiji in the girl’s 56kg division at the Commonwealth Youth Games currently underway in Samoa.

Sagone lifted a snatch of 62kg which helped her to a total of 136kg to ensure she was crowned Commonwealth Youth Games champion.

Sagone’s win came at the expense of Biatrice Gabell of Scotland and Mauritius’ Lent Ketty who won Silver and Bronze respectively.

Meanwhile South Africa lead the medal tally after day one of competition with four gold, and three Bronze while Australia is in second place with three gold, four silver and five bronze medals.

England lie on third with two Gold, one Silver and three Bronze medals.
