Fiji fall further on medals tally

After the completion of yesterday’s competition, Team Fiji is now in sixth place on the Pacific Games medal tally.

Having failed to win any gold medal yesterday, Fiji is on four gold, nine silver and nine bronze medals.

PNG leads with 18 gold, 10 silver and eight bronze, while Tahiti is second with 16 gild, five silver and two bronze.

Samoa is now third after a good night at the weightlifting,and sits on eight gold and 12 silver.

New Caledonia has eight each of gold, silver and bronze, while Australia has won six gold, 13 silver and seven bronze.

Meanwhile, today sees the start of rugby sevens for men and women, which should add more excitement to the games.

The Fijiana play Australia at 2pm, while Ben Ryan’s men take on PNG at 3.28pm.

In basketball, the Fiji men play Guam.

The Fiji women play the Cook Islands at 12.30pm in soccer.

Medals are up for grabs in table tennis, swimming,weightlifting and shooting.
