Fiji FA to implement measures of drug test before every game

June 6, 2018 6:01 pm

Fiji Football Association is planning to implement measures after five players were tested positive for marijuana at the Vodafone Fiji FACT in the last fortnight.

Fiji FA President, Rajesh Patel, says the districts will now need to do the test of all the players before any tournament or game.

He says Fiji FA’s medical team will now also change its way and will do the test before every game, as usually it was done after the game.

“This way there will be second drug test during the tournament but here it’s not afterwards but it’s before to get the players cleaned up and this is what we wanted to do where the players themselves know that districts will take action. We will contract with the lab that we are at a certain rate and the district can pay for the players to get it tested.”

Meanwhile, Labasa takes on Rewa in the Vodafone Fiji FACT final at 2pm on Sunday at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori and you can catch a live commentary of the match on Radio Fiji TWO.
