Fiji 7s teams into Cup quarters in Labasa

The two Fiji 7s teams competing in the Macuata Provincial Youth 7s tournament will be in action in the Cup quarterfinals this morning at Subrail Park.

After breezing through their pool games yesterday, the two sides are deemed to meet in the Cup final this afternoon.

Fiji 1, featuring several core members from the previous season of the World Sevens Series such as Osea Kolinisau, Isake Katonibau and Pio Tuwai beat Can Do Generation 31-12 in the final pool game to progress to the quarterfinals where they will face Vueticakau.

Fiji 2, led by national reps, Vatemo Ravouvou and Amenoni Nasilasila defeated Nuclear 7 40-0 and will take on 3D Gold in the quarterfinals.

Other quarterfinal matches sees Wardens Gold meet Northern Wardens while First Light Taveuni takes on Ilai Tinai’s Wardens Green side.

Today, games get underway at 8:30am with the Bowl quarterfinals.

The Cup final will kick-off at 4pm.

The winning team will collect the $3000 while the runners up earns $1500.

National coach, Ben Ryan will name his reduced 16-member squad tomorrow to prepare for the Dubai and Cape Town 7s tournaments next month.
