Fiji 7s coach happy with bulk and size

Vodafone Fiji sevens coach Ben Ryan says the physical attributes of his current squad is one of the best seen in recent time.

The 30-member training squad starts its second week of training today in Pacific Harbor.

Ryan says the players in the current squad have more beef compared to the Fijian teams, which have played in the past IRB World Series.

“I am really encouraged with probably the increase in size we have got and we lacked that last year. We didn’t have a couple of hard men maybe that was the reason occasionally I thought we got bullied a little bit particularly by New Zealand. So that was another thing I had to solve. So the group of players we have got now I think won’t be taking any backward step this year and I think we have got that hard edge.”

Ryan will name his reduced squad at the end of the training sessions later this week.
