It will be an emotional return to New Zealand today for the family of missing former Fiji 7s rep, Eroni Ravaga.

Ravaga is believed to have drowned a fortnight ago at Akito Beach in New Zealand, where he was playing club rugby.

His father, Pastor Banuve Gaunavou says the last time he spoke to his son was on Good Friday with wonderful news of securing a three-year contract to play rugby.

The speedy winger had shown impressive form to get a call up to the Wairarapa Bush team.

Pastor Gaunavou says that feelings of happiness of receiving the good news turned to heartbreak three days later when club rugby officials called to inform them of Ravaga’s disappearance.

Gaunavou says despite the calling off of the search, Ravaga’s teammates and various other volunteers refuse to give up searching until his family arrives in New Zealand.

Gaunavou says that there will also be a memorial service held to commemorate the popular young flyer.
