The Under-19 defending boys and girls champions Saint John’s Collage and Suva Grammar School have stamped its mark on the first day of the Fiji Secondary School’s Basketball competition.
In the boys division St John’s beat Gospel High School 28-19 while Suva Grammar defeated Tilak High of Lautoka 29- 8 in the girls division.
Basketball Fiji’s games director, Laisiasa Puamau, says the competition within the schools is tough this year.
“Every national event there’s always further growth especially in the under 15 categories and under 17, again we’re very happy with the environment and how the event is turning out.”
In other U-19 matches, Yat Sen Secondary School defeated Tilak High School 27-17 while in the U19 girls division.
Meanwhile, the tournament finishes on Thursday.
