The Zodiacs Challenge Basketball tournament began last night with teams from around Suva competing for the Challenge Shield.

Tournament Organiser Alex Fong says this is the third challenge this year.

Fong says after day one, competition level amongst teams has intensified.

“Our tournaments are such that to create awareness for the game, bring the players together and hopefully develop the game as well. Competitions run from today, Monday till Saturday which are all pools. Semis and Finals on Sunday.”

Four women’s and 10 men’s teams are part of this tournament.

Meanwhile in last night’s pool games, Zodiacs U19 girls defeated Chikara Ravens 32-20, Zodiacs U19 Boys beat Raiwaqa Buffaloes 33-32 while the Zodiac Main defeated Genesis 46-35.

The finals of the Zodiacs Challenge will take place on Sunday at the Yat Sen Hall.
