Bainimarama congratulates Flying Fijians' for win over France

Prime Minister and Fiji Rugby Union President Voreqe Bainimarama has congratulated the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians team for its remarkable victory over France last weekend.

During his maiden speech in parliament this morning Bainimarama recognized Coach John McKee and the players for overcoming one of the dominant team’s in the World of Rugby.

He says Fiji’s victory over the French side has given Fijian fans high hopes for next year’s World Cup.

“To John McKee and his Flying Fijians you’re making your mark in 15s establishing a new era of greatness of your own. With the world cup around the corner we certainly have a lot to look forward to in 2019.”

Bainimarama also took the opportunity to congratulate the Fijiana 15s side for its win over the weekend.

“Madam Speaker, I want to give a big congratulation to our Fijiana 15 side for their dominant performance at the Oceania Rugby Championship where they defended their title with another first place victory.”

The Rugby World Cup kicks off in Japan on September 20th next year.

Fiji is in Pool A alongside Australia, Wales, Georgia and Uruguay.
