International Olympic President Thomas Bach has shown his interest in helping to rebuild sporting facilities in Tonga following the devastation of Tropical Cyclone Gita earlier this week.

Tonga’s Olympic flag bearer Pita Tau-fato-fua tweeted that he received a phone call from Bach asking how his family and the people of Tonga were after the cyclone.

Taufatofua says it was always his dream to build an Olympic facility for the children of Tonga and Bach’s interest will surely fulfil it.
