Two records broken in Suva Zone 2 meet

Two records have been broken so far in the Suva Zone 2 currently underway at ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Marist Brothers High School long distance runner, Petero Veitaqomaki has set a new record of 11 minutes 8.54 seconds in the boy’s 3,000 metres.

He broke the one-year record which was set by Christopher Zoing of Marist with the time of 11 minutes 27.25seconds.

Another record was broken by Maraia Qalolo of Nuku Secondary School with the time of 13 minutes 45seconds in the girl’s 3,000 metres Open Grade.

The old record was 13 minutes 45 seconds which was set last year.

Meanwhile, MBHS is leading the boys division with three gold, silver and three bronze medals, Suva Grammar follows in second place with two gold, one silver and two bronze while Nuku Secondary School and Suva Sangam in third place with one silver each.

In the girl’s division, defending champions St Josephs Secondary School is leading with two gold and four silver.

A total of 14 schools are competing at the Suva Zone 2 meet.
