Special Olympics Fiji will be sending a women’s football team to the Abu Dhabi Special Olympics World Summer Games in March.

Special Olympics Fiji Chair Bishwa Sidal announced this after receiving a major $100,000 boost from Digicel Fiji today.

Sidal says this will be the first time they’re sending a football team to the Olympic Summer Games.

“We have taken the challenge to build the women’s team. We were also looking at providing this awareness that women with disability can also participate. They also should be given the opportunity to play at the world stage.”

Fiji will take twenty-one athletes to the Games which will be held from the 14th to 21st March.
