WGO training upgrades nurses skills

More than forty local nurses have participated in the World Gastroenterology Organisation training program since 2008.

Fiji was one of the thirteen centres in the world to receive the training along with Bangkok, South Africa, Chile and Rome.

Director Dr. Joji Malani says many Fijians suffer from abdominal disorders and are in need of skilled nurses and doctors to treat it.

“More than sixty doctors have helped to train our doctors in Fiji and the Pacific and more than forty nurses have participated in our programme which is quite a remarkable achievement at the ten years of the program.”

Dr. Malani says about twenty doctors and nurses from here and the Pacific region will be part of the four week Gastroenterology training at the CWM Hospital in Suva.
