December 16, 2016 12:11 am

Evacuation centres in the Western Division are on standby but according to Divisional Planning Officer West Sitiveni Tavaga, none are being occupied at the moment.

Tavaga says although they had experienced heavy rains from last night, there haven’t been any reports of homes being severely damaged by floodwaters.

“As from last night we have been experiencing heavy rain especially in Lautoka, Ba, Tavua and Nadi. We are also issuing a warning to those in tents and temporary shelters just to take precautions now and try to look for safer places if this rain continues for today and tonight. Now we have identified evacuation centers for them but no evacuation centers are occupied.”
