The Ministry for Housing and Environment will be asking for more come the 2013 budget announcement.

Minister Colonel Samuela Saumatua says they need to push services higher than current levels.

This includes sourcing funding for improvements within municipal councils.

“Local government is not really supported financially by government. That is one area we are looking into this year. We are not certain yet what the result will be, but we have a very positive outlook."

The 2013 National Budget will be announced in November.
