Water and waste management project

The Suva Water and Waste management investment project is expected to meet the demand of the greater Suva area until 2033.

The project will cost over eight hundred and thirty million dollar.

An investment deal has been signed in relation to this between the Government & the European Investment Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the Green Climate Fund.

Minister responsible for Climate Change, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the project will improve water production by twenty-six percent and waste water treatment capacity by one hundred and sixty-four percent.

“The proposed project concerns high priority investments in water supply and waste water collection and treatment to provide safe water and sewerage services in the greater Suva and Nausori area to approximately 300, 000 Fijians.”

The project will also improve the efficiency of operations of the Water Authority.
