Villagers in Vunivou settlement in Bua Vanua Levu are facing the brunt of heavy rain.

Advisory councillor Ramesh Lal says heavy rain in the last two days has caused flash flooding and roads are blocked.

Lal told FBC News that there’s almost three to four feet water on the road and the water level is still increasing.

”In this settlement there’s almost more than two hundred households, there’s a Koro as well so another two hundred household there. This water is on the road, i don’t think water has entered any of the houses but there is a rice farmer living in this settlement, whom i just visited and saw water in his farm which means the rice which was ready to be harvested is now all damaged.”

Lal is urging residents in his area to move to the Vunivou Sanatan Dharam Primary School as heavy rain continues.
