Voting at 22 polling venues begins

November 16, 2018 8:41 pm

The 22 polling venues that were adjourned for voting last Wednesday have commenced voting from 7.30am says Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem.

Saneem says they have already recorded a good surge as roughly 30 to 40 voters turning up as first time voters.

The Supervisor reiterates in these areas any person who has voted on November 14th or last Wednesday has to vote again – so that their vote is counted.

“We will not be counting the ballots that were received on November 14th at any of these locations – but instead we will be counting the ballot papers from today.”

Saneem is also reminding voters that the FEO has arranged for free transport for voters in these who are expected to cast their votes today.

“Please keep an eye out for any of the vehicles marked as election transport and you will be able to board that vehicle free of charge and they will take you to the polling place and they keep doing round trips so that if you are returning to your place where you boarded actually you can get off there.”

He is encouraging voters registered at these 25 polling stations to come out in numbers and exercise their democratic right.

Saneem says at the moment they are not facing any difficulties and the weather is also on their side.
