Violence is never the answer says the Fiji Police Force after yesterday violent deaths in Labasa where two people were hacked to death with an axe.

Police Chief Operations Officer SSP Rusiate Tudravu says there are always other avenues to let off steam.

Tudravu says what happened in Labasa can be avoided.

Violence is not the answer. If things had been done otherwise we would have had these tragedies. There ways we can talk things through.

No charges have been laid on the 57 year old man who is alleged to have killed his 53 year old wife Amra Wati and his 93 year old father-in-law Madho.

A survivor of the attack, 23 year old Gayatri Devi is still admitted at Labasa Hospital.

The attack took place in Vunivau Labasa early yesterday morning.

Police investigations are continuing.
