USS Shoup to preserve security in the region

The United State Navy vessel USS Shoup will maintain its presence in the Pacific to help preserve peace and security.

The vessel is in Suva today and has over more than three hundred crew members.

Commanding Officer Andy Strickland says this is the first time the Shoup has visited Fiji on its mission of maritime security in the area.

“All the countries in this region have experienced economic prosperity largely because of its security stability that exist at sea.Fiji is the key partner in the South pacific and we are here to enjoy this beautiful country.”

The ship was deployed in July for duty in the Pacific.
