Daniel Urai has retained his position as the General Secretary of the National Union of Hospitality, Catering and Tourism Industries and Employees.

Urai won the union election winning 775 votes out of 1070.

10 votes were invalid, while 285 votes went to Mereani Qoro who was also contesting for the position.

The two day polls saw members from 38 properties cast votes in the election.

Counting was held at the Hexagon hotel in Nadi and was completed at 10:30pm last night in the presence of Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem.

Saneem is expected to make an official announcement later today.

This is the second election in two months after the first was declared null and void because of complaints about voter registration.
