A 51-year-old man has been sentenced to 7-years imprisonment for raping his 19-year-old niece.

The father of three committed the offence in June 2011.

The Lautoka High Court heard that the accused picked up the victim from Sigatoka Town in the evening and took her to a motel, where he raped her.

The victim informed her mother about the incident the next day, which was then reported to the police.

A permanent domestic violence restraining order against the accused person has also been issued.
