Two men granted bail after allegedly found with methamphetamine

A man in his 40s appeared in court today after he was allegedly found in possession of illicit drug.

Ravindra Singh is charged with one count of possession of illicit drug and appeared before Magistrate Deepika Prakash.

It is alleged that Singh was found in possession of 38.92g of illicit drug namely methamphetamine.

Singh’s lawyer, Akuila Naco asked for the court to grant bail, with the prosecutor objecting it, stating that the alleged offense is becoming rampant in society.

Magistrate Prakash however granted $2, 000 bail.

Singh has been ordered to surrender his passport and a stop departure has been imposed on him.

He is also to report to the Lami police station once a week.

The matter will be recalled on the 13th of next month for plea.

Meanwhile, an unemployed man of Naboro, outside Suva who is charged with allegedly found in possession of one count of 0.13 gram of methamphetamine, has been granted bail by the Suva Magistrates Court.

34-year-old Abdul Sabir was arrested by police on the 21st of this month at Naqumu Point, Lami.

Prosecutor says full disclosures were served to the accused and he has been granted $1,000 personal bail and $1,000 surety bail.

He will also report to the Lami police station once a week.

Sabir’s case will be recalled on the 25th of next month
