The trial of a 66-year-old dentist of Nadi who has been charged with five counts of sexual assault and six counts of rape will start on August 12th next year.

It was revealed in court today, that both the counsels have signed the agreed facts and submitted it.

It’s alleged that on June 28th, this year- he raped his 53-year-old sister-in-law in her home in Nasinu.

It’s alleged he asked the victim to rest at her home after attending a wedding in Suva and when she was inside her bedroom, the suspect knocked on her door and allegedly forced himself on her.

The state said they are not relying on the accused persons caution statement.

State says the complainant, a doctor and neighbor of the victim will take the stand during the trial.

Defense said that they will be calling in four witnesses.

Judge Justice Daniel Goundar said the trial will go on for a week.

The pre-trial conference will be held on May 1st.

Bail has been extended for the accused.
