The Fiji Police Force is worried about companies hiring people to drive heavy goods trucks when they don’t have the prescribed license.

One such driver died in Koroboya in Ba yesterday.

The man, who was an FSC employee was carting pine logs when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle.

It is understood that the binding chain holding the pine logs broke causing the logs to fall off the truck.

The 23 year old also jumped off the truck and was killed instantly by the logs.

It was later discovered that the victim didn’t have a license to drive a heavy goods vehicle.

The road death toll now stands at 52 compared to 38 for the same period last year.
