A group of 10 who came to Fiji for holidays after the recent floods have confirmed that their local media misreported Fiji’s flood situation.
Sandy Baltussen told FBC News that they were on the verge of cancelling their trip to Fiji after watching flood reports in Australia.
She says devastating floods were shown on Television portraying to them that this is what the entire Viti-Levu is.
“The News reports had been that there has been so much flooding right through but what we found is that yes, terrible in Nadi, people were affected but we are here and we feel like it was really a good decision to have come."
Meanwhile, some hotels are claiming that recovery’s been slow, booking is still down and at least some of the downturns been blamed on the irresponsible reporting in overseas media.
