Tourism Fiji appreciates budget allocation

The budgetary allocation for the Tourism industry has been a constant figure since 2009 which is $23.5million.

This is mostly used to manage the marketing budget for Tourism Fiji.

Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association president Dixon Seeto says its budget allocation has been sufficient over the years.

“We were hoping for a slightly larger allocation but like I said we are pragmatic and we work with what we have. As chair of Tourism Fiji, Pichler will be making good use of the money allocated to us.”
But despite this he says Tourism Fiji will be able to meet their targets in terms of visitor arrivals for next year."

“We now have a revamp Tourism Fiji structure in terms of managers and using new techniques in terms of social media and having PR consultants and people like that. I think that we are on track for a record arrival figure of 700,000 next year.”

Tourism contributes to $1.4m in foreign exchange, the industry provides one in three jobs and contributes to 38 percent of the Gross Domestic Production for the country.
