The Textile, Clothing and Footwear council has raised their concerns regarding family care leave with the Employment Minister.

During the council’s Annual General Meeting, it claims there are no proper guidelines to determine which cases are genuine.

The Employment Ministry’s Labour Compliance Services Manager Central and Eastern Division Joeli Pulu says the guidelines are quite clear.

“The immediate family members, mother, and father are in the criteria. The criteria also include anymore who is in the household and is financially dependent.”

Minister for Employment Parveen Kumar says they’re receiving complaints from other sectors as well regarding this issue.

Kumar says the responses they get from the AGM will be discussed in their meeting as they will meet all the sectors as well.
