Tropical Cyclone Ana can further intensify into a Category 3 cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Fiji Meteorological Service Senior Forecaster Samisoni Waqavakatoga says current weather condition are favorable for it to further develop.

“A high pressure system to the far South of Fiji over New Zealand that’s keeping TC Ana just off of the coast of Ba Province. With this favorable conditions in the path of TC Ana, there is a high possibility for it to intensify preferably into Category three in the next 24-28 hours”.

Waqavakatoga adds that TC Ana has slightly change direction and is likely to make landfall between Ba and Tavua this morning.

“It has now lingered over the area that I have mentioned off of the coast of Northern Viti Levu around Ba and Tavua town for the past three hours now.”

The Senior Forecaster says they are still anticipating TC Ana to cross over Viti Levu.
