Residents of Shalimar Street, Raiwai without power

Residents of Shalimar Street in Raiwai, Suva are without electricity.

38-year-old Elvin Nand told FBC News a nearby EFL post is down due to the strong wind experienced overnight.

Nand says they woke up to debris and surface flooding in some areas as heavy rain continues.

Some access roads were also underwater and residents are now taking precautionary measures.

Fijians are urged not to approach fallen power lines.

Energy Fiji Limited says power is out in most parts of the Central division.

A fault has caused a disruption to the power supply.

Affected areas include Nakasi – Nasole, Muanikoso, Police Mobile, F.N.T.C, S.P.C, Narere Indust, Narere 3, Narere 1, Narere 2, Narere sewerage, Narere stage 1 & 3, Makoi, Rups Investment Complex, Polar Ice Ltd, Rups Invest, Wainibuku Pumping Stn, Sarava, and Hart Village.

Teams will be deployed to these areas once the weather conditions improve.
