Students under the Tertiary Education Loan are urged to update their information with the Revenue and Customs Service as soon as they find a job.

The FRCS has noted that in some instances graduates have found full-time employment but have not made any effort to re-pay their loans.

Chief executive Visvanath Das says although the number of defaulting students under TELS is not many, but in the long run this could affect others who want to study under the loan scheme.

“You will find a few bad one’s you know whom you want to say they have absconded or they have defaulted but I don’t think that I would say that at this stage this is a major problem.”

Since its inception in 2014, TELS has assisted fifty-five thousand students investing over $300 million.
