Year 13 student, Pauliasi Ravulo then raised a question on the possible use of phones at schools with the CareFiji App.

“If they have the app, they should take the phones everywhere. So shouldn’t we students bring out phones to school? And since the schools don’t practice much social distancing shouldn’t students bring their phones to school?”

The Economy Minister then responded that fixed classes in schools will make tracing easier even without the app.

“The good thing about coming to school is that you have a set class. You know who is in your class so if tomorrow you have COVID-19 God forbid when they ask you who you are in close contact with, you will know everybody in your class so you can give them your name.”

The Minister then explained that when more people download the app, the government can promote Fiji as being a safe destination for tourists from Australians and New Zealand.
