A 16-year-old student of Labasa is the latest drowning victim.

Police have confirmed that the student was swimming with his cousin in the Nagata River in Benau, Labasa when the incident occurred, at about 2pm yesterday.

Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

The drowning death toll stands at 12 compared to 21 for the same period, last year.
