Six Pacific Islanders rewarded Chevening Scholarship

The British High Commission today awarded Chevening scholarships to six recipients around the region.

Acting British High Commissioner Dave Jones says Chevening is the UK government’s international awards programme aimed at developing global leaders since 1983.

While seeing the recipients of, Jones says the one year away studying is also a good time to explore the UK – its culture and traditions.

“Don’t just focus on studies, although that is the most important part of the process, if you can, try and live with a family, there is a scheme, try and engage in volunteering and some charity work.”

Jones says Chevening offers a unique opportunity for future leaders, from all over the world to develop professionally and academically, network extensively and experience what the UK has to offer.
