Showers expected but don't panic

April 5, 2012 4:10 am

Director of Meteorology Alipate Waqaicelua is reassuring people in the Central and Eastern division that there isn’t any reason to panic following heavy showers experienced today.

Many were taken by surprise today with the heavy rain, but the weather office says it will pass.

“There is no tropical cyclone and there is no tropical depression in the vicinity of Fiji or the Southwest Pacific at this stage. What we are experiencing in Fiji at the moment is the active trough of low pressure that had been affecting us ever since the exit of tropical cyclone Daphne a few days ago."
