The iTaukei Lands Trust Board says landowners are spreading misinformation on social media about the hydro dams that will be built in Namosi.

Several clans are claiming online that they do not support the three Dams that will be built by Hydro Fiji Limited.

They claim the Dam would threaten the lives of the villagers, damage property, affect fish numbers and the natural wildlife in Namosi.

Meanwhile, the iTaukei Lands Trust Board chief executive Tevita Kuruvakadua, has refuted claims that the landowners were not consulted in the process of issuing the leases.

Kuruvakadua says a series of public consultations were held by the TLTB in 2015 which included 41 meetings with 18 villages and respective landowning units in Namosi.

He says a majority of the landowners support the three projects.
