Seema Shandil appointed as Consumer Council’s new CEO

Shandil resumed her duties as CEO last Wednesday and has extensive work experience in the field of Research, Economics, Project management, and education.

Consumer Council Board Chair Raman Dahia says Shandil’s appointment gives the Council added motivation to ensure consumer rights are protected.

Dahia says Shandil’s wealth of experience and drive will be vital to ensuring the Council continues to play a lead role in voicing the concerns of consumers, especially as consumer rights encounter new challenges posed by ever-expanding digital and technological frontiers.

He states the Council had followed a thorough and robust recruitment process in accordance with requirements of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Tourism and Shandil’s selection was made from a highly talented and experienced pool of candidates vying for the CEO position.

Shandil has more than 20 years of work experience and has worked for some prestigious organizations like Fiji National Provident Fund as the Manager Research and Product Development, as an Economist at Reserve bank of Fiji and as an educator with the Ministry of Education.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of the South Pacific as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts with double majors in Economics and Education.
