The Suva City Council is undertaking the stray dog trapping exercise within the City boundary.
Acting director health services Josephine Koroi says the City boundary also includes public parks.
Koroi says residents must ensure that their pets are secured and does not get trapped with the stray dog’s population of the City.
Dogs trapped will be taken to either the Agriculture Ministry at Koronivia or SPCA at Walu Bay.
Owners can reclaim their pets within 48 hours of capture subject to charges & licenses.
Koroi says dogs that are not claimed within 24 hours will be dealt with by the Agriculture Ministry and SPCA.
She says due to the surge in stray dogs population becoming problematic to the City community, trapping of stray dogs will now become an on-going exercise.
