SAR roadshow to be held in Lautoka today

The Ministry of Defence with relevant agencies will be conducting a Search and Rescue (SAR) roadshow in Lautoka from today.

The roadshow aims to create awareness on safety of life at sea, rivers and on land.

It will also culminate with the launching of the Search and Rescue Manual tomorrow.

This will be followed by a full-scale exercise involving rescue agencies on coordination of responses using helicopters, rescue boats and is an opportunity for the Health Ministry to test their emergency operations.

There will be booths as well exhibiting agency roles and functions for members of the Public and school children from selected schools from Nadroga to Rakiraki.

Agencies involved in the SAR roadshow includes

1. MSAF
2. Fiji Navy
3. Fiji Police
4. NDMO
5. National Fire
6. Ministry of Health
7. AFL and CAAF
8. Taukei Affairs
9. Volunteer group FARST
9. Min of Defence

The two day SAR Roadshow will end on Friday.
