July 19, 2016 6:37 pm

Navy officers are finding it difficult to reach the naval boat -Kiro, which got stuck on a reef near Makuluva Island outside Suva last Friday.

RFMF Commander Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto says officers have to swim through breakers to get to it.

Naupoto says an inquiry will also be conducted to determine how the boat ended up hitting the reef.

-’Right now our concentration is on how to salvage the boat, when that comes down a little bit then we will go into the investigation because the same people who will be interviewed are also involve in trying to get the boat off the reef."_

It is hoped the full salvage operation will be underway either on Thursday or Friday.
