Fiji and Russia will work at ways of boosting Fiji’s tourism industry.

Fiji’s Ambassador to Japan Isikeli Mataitoga recently met with the First Vice-Governor of the Primorsky Territory government of Russia Sergey Sidorov.

Both parties agreed that many Russia tourists willing to travel to Fiji if tourism products – in particular adventure tourism is promoted there.

They also want tour operators in Fiji to undertake promotion in the region.

Invitation has also been extended for tour operators to attend the next International Tourism Fair in Russia.

The meeting noted that Russian tourists who seek adventure tourism are usually people with money and they use tourism to increase their awareness of the country they wish to invest in.
