Pothole repairs is only a temporary measure says the Fiji Roads Authority.

Chief executive, Jonathan Moore says contractors have been engaged to undertake full carriageway repairs.

Moore adds the wet weather has further deteriorated the roads and to address this – an 18 crew member has been deployed in the Central division to carry out maintenance.

“Full carriageway repairs is what we want to do going forward anyway because it avoids potholes in the future. We now have got maintenance contractor directed onto deploying crews to pothole repairs as an interim measure but he is also deployed to do some carriageway repairs.”

Moore says the deterioration is so grave that a second contractor will be engaged.

He adds pothole repair work is also being carried out in the Western and Northern divisions.
