July 12, 2016 1:13 am

A major challenge for the Land Transport Authority is getting the public to understand that road safety is everyone’s responsibility.

This was highlighted to FBC News by LTA Chief Executive Naisa Tuinaceva due to the increasing number of accidents on our roads.

He says that they have provided various awareness programs for the public to be aware of their part on the road.

“We continuously provide education to the public on how to use roads with safety at the back of their mind. It’s not only walking or crossing the road- it’s about being responsible and also thinking safety all the time I think that is one of the big challenges. People coming on our roads, people walking on the side of the road they will need to know their part.”

Tuinaceva says regardless whether you’re a driver or pedestrian, people still need to follow road rules and be more responsible.

The road death toll currently stands at 25 as compared to 34 for the same period last year.
