Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho was hit by a taxi in Suva at around eight this morning while riding his motorcycle.

The incident is alleged to have occurred in the central business district while the Police Chief was on his way to the Totogo Police station.

It’s alleged a taxi being driven by a thirty-two year old man tried to overtake Qiliho’s motorcycle as the Commissioner was taking a right turn into Central Street.

Qiliho pulled the brake to avoid the accident resulting in the motorbike veering off the road.

The Police Commissioner received minor injuries and was taken to the CWM hospital in a patrol car.

The taxi driver was questioned however no charges have been laid yet.
