June 16, 2014 5:09 am

Permanent Secretary for Education Dr Brij Lal has confirmed that some kindergarten teachers are not getting their salary on time.

Kindergarten teachers have often complained on the non-payment of their salary and Dr Lal says these teachers need to follow certain procedures.

“They are not fully registered with the Fiji Teacher Registration Authority. Secondly there is a Memorandum of Understanding or agreement signed between the teacher and the school management and the ministry in a large number of cases these documents are not complete or have not been done at all and that is why we can’t pay them. And the third one is the Kindergarten teachers don’t have a bank account.”
