The post-mortem on the seven-year-old girl who died in an accident at Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge in Lami on Saturday night will be conducted today.

Chief of Intelligence and Investigation ACP Vakacegu Toduadua says the 19-year-old driver is still in custody as investigation continues.

ACP Toduadua says they will await the post mortem result before charges will be laid against the driver.

The incident occurred at the junction of Foster Road and Tamavua-I-Wai after 8pm.

The suspect allegedly hit the victim who was crossing the road with an adult and another child.

The suspect reported the matter at the Delainavesi Police Post whereby officers and bystanders removed the victim and rushed her to the CWM Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
