Possible intermitted power supply tonight: FEA

July 16, 2016 5:07 am

The Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) says there may be some intermitted power supply from 10pm tonight until 8 am on Sunday.

In a statement FEA reveals that they will do it’s utmost to ensure that these power interruptions are kept to a minimum but that they may experience intermittent power supply interruptions in the event of a failure of any one of our diesel generating sets.

The interruptions are due to the replacing of all FEA’s 132kV switchyard porcelain insulators at the Cunningham Road Substation and at the Wailoa Switchyard.

In order to carry out this maintenance, FEA Engineers will need to de-energize the Wailoa to Cunningham 132kV transmission line.

This maintenance will mean that FEA will not be able to supply electricity from the Wailoa Hydro Power Station to the Central Region of Viti Levu, and will rely on its Diesel Power Stations at Kinoya, Deuba, Rokobili & Korovou to supply electricity to its customers in the Central Division from Matanivusi to Korovou.
