Parliamentarians will be better equipped and resourced in comparison to their predecessors in the last term.

Secretary General to Parliament, Viniana Namosimalua says with a full four year term behind the secretariat, there have been many lessons learnt on what they can do better in the new term.

One of the areas they’ve been able to accommodate is that of resourcing where all 51 MPs will have mobile phones, laptops and tablets to assist in their work.

We’ve learnt our lessons from the past time, from the previous term and what we’ve been able to do is set aside a certain amount to be able to purchase items that will help members of parliament to do their work and enable them to prepare effectively before sittings or do their own research so we’ve been able to set aside a budget to be able to take care of those things.

Also high on the agenda is increasing parliamentary staff to assist with Hansard and Committee reports.
