Police step up operations to counter spike in muggings

Muggings have increased with Police confirming that the crime trend has resurfaced.

Police Chief of Operations – ACP Rusiate Tudravu says they’ve arrested some people who have preyed on drivers and commuters particularly while they’re queued in traffic because of the major roadworks.

ACP Tudravu says to counter this crime wave, Police have ramped up their operations.

“There’s alot of snap road blocks going around in almost all the country, mobile patrols, increase in foot patrols, visitations at daytime of community policing.”

ACP Tudravu is urging the public to be vigilant and to keep their valuables on their person secure.

The Police chief has also reiterated that with November the month of heightened criminal activity, the general public is advised to take proactive measures to keep themselves and their properties safe.
